Plymouth State University Sorority Partners with NHToDo Magazine
Monday March 14, 2005

PLYMOUTH, NH -- During the month of March, Iota Delta Chi (IDX) Sorority at Plymouth State University will be partnering with NHToDo Magazine to raise funds for their 2005 composite picture. The composite is a collection of portraits of the 2005 IDX sorority sisters, their names and sorority crest arranged to reflect the image of Iota Delta Chi. Additionally, funds from every subscription sold will also go to support Liberty House - New Hampshire's only transitional housing for homeless veterans.

The 16 members of the IDX sorority will be reaching out to friends, family, teachers and alumni to raise money through the sales of NHToDo Magazine subscriptions. Those interested in supporting the effort of this ambitious group of young women should contact President Stephanie Buck at 508-776-0026 or Daron Libby, NHToDo Executive Editor at 1-888-345-8636.

Iota Delta Chi sorority, one of three sororities at PSU recognized by the Panhellenic Council,  encourages forever friendships formed through sisterhood. Their primary goal is to create a strong bond between sisters, the Plymouth State University campus, and the community. Iota Delta Chi was founded on April 13, 1981 by seven women who wanted to create an organization which promoted the ideals of involvement, enthusiasm, and accomplishment, which are represented by our letters. Sisters of Iota Delta Chi are actively involved in Greek Life, community service and campus-sponsored events.

Libby said, "The idea of a campus sorority partnering with NHToDo to raise funds is very innovative. Not only do they realize the funds needed but they are also helping to support New Hampshire's veterans. And every NHToDo subscription sold encourages more NH tourism, thereby enriching people's lives by enjoying our state more, strengthening our state economy and helping NH business owners. These young women have taken on a wonderfully philanthropic activity and are to be admired."

In the winter of 2004, over 500 veterans in New Hampshire were without a home. Yet government aid reached a mere 10 percent of them. That's why Don Duhamel, a Vietnam Veteran himself, established Liberty House in the spring of 2004.  The programs most successful at rehabilitating homeless veterans are those which recognize veteran status. When veterans suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or other service-related disorders, the kind of support they need can only come from fellow veterans who have experienced similar trauma. Liberty House in Manchester brings this proven model of success to New Hampshire by providing residents with daily necessities, a substance-free environment, peer support, and a case management team connecting them to the training and resources necessary for a sustainable transition out of homelessness.
