Like a balloon lifting off into a clear morning sky, NHToDo Magazine launches into its dawn of creative adventure!
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as our staff has enjoyed creating it for you.
The concept of a monthly activity magazine for New Hampshire was developed back in 1991
by our publisher Wayne Green, who's been publishing magazines for over 40 years.
But timing is everything and it wasn't until the summer of 2001 during lunch when he said
to me, "Daron, there's a need for this magazine. I'm almost 80. Don't make me do this by myself!"
My kids were now in college and I had been re-focusing my future and my career.
Wayne's statement struck me like the sledgehammer of serendipity and I realized that
something larger than the two of us was already underway.
What is the need Wayne envisions for New Hampshire? Residents and visitors need a
publication to find out about the fun and interesting things to do in the Granite State
- not just an events listing but compelling articles that call your name.
Businesses that provide activity-based attractions and services need new ways to gain
exposure and create excitement for their specialties. And we need more promotion to open
up new and essentially undiscovered areas of the state to our biggest industry - tourism.
NHToDo Magazine will grow tourism, help increase state and private business revenues and
create thousands of new jobs. Through this, we at NHToDo genuinely hope to continue to
improve the quality of life for Granite Staters. As well, we wish to inspire all of you
who read our magazine to nurture a quality of enjoyment in your life. We encourage
everyone to be active, and to experience New Hampshire's fun and the diversity of amazing
people who call this State home.
So what can you expect from us each month? Fun, fascination and discovery! First of
all, we'll bring you feature articles about every imaginable activity. From horseback
riding and mountain climbing to antique shopping and the best miniature golfing, you’ll
have an endless supply of ideas for fun things to do. While you're out playing, you're
going to need to know about great places to eat and just the right place to stay -
restaurants, diners, hotels, B&B’s, and campgrounds - so we'll give you honest reviews of
those too. Ever tried skiing? Fly fishing? Hot air ballooning? Snowshoeing? We'll tell
you how to get started. How about New Hampshire heritage and culture? You bet!
Community theatre, country fairs, bluegrass festivals - it really is almost endless.
We’d like for you to participate with us too! Most of our feature articles will come
from readers like you. Why not write about an experience you had in New Hampshire that
you think others would enjoy doing. We want to hear about your fun adventures - like the
day you visited the maple sugar house on Kate's Hill in Berlin or went whale watching out
of Portsmouth Harbor. These are the stories that fellow readers are looking for and you
can help them discover New Hampshire like never before. Send us a SASE and ask for an
NHToDo Writer's Guide.
I'm happy and grateful to have this grand project underway, and to have you as a reader!
We have a talented staff that works and plays hard to create a quality resource that
I know you'll enjoy month after month.
Thank you for joining us on our adventure!
